Questions to Ask Your Wedding Venue - Part 1

After you have determined your wedding budget, it’s now time to start looking at wedding venues! Once you have an idea of guest count, start to research venues that fit your guest count and budget criteria. Below is a list of questions to ask your venue before booking them! This will be a 3 part series, here are some basic questions to ask your wedding venue.

Is my date of choice available? If not, are there any surrounding dates available? Or do you have a wait list for dates?

  • Is a Friday or Sunday cheaper? Are there any “off seasons” that are cheaper?

  • Are there other couples interested in this date? Are we able to put a “soft hold” on a date while we think about it?

  • What is the rental fee? If having the ceremony here, is there an additional fee?

  • What is included in the total? Does it cover service charges, gratuity, and cleaning fees, or are those additional line items?

  • How long do you have the space for? If we wanted to stay longer, is there an overtime charge?

  • Do they book more than 1 wedding a night or weekend?

  • What are the guest count restrictions (minimums & maximums)

  • If any parts of the wedding are outside, what is the rain plan?

  • If the venue is at a hotel, when can we reserve a block of rooms for guests? Is there a special rate? Can Welcome Bags be given to my guests at check-in?

  • How much is the deposit & is it refundable? What is the payment timeline?

  • What is the cancelation policy?

  • What is the rescheduling policy? What is the latest date we can make changes?

  • Do they have liability insurance?

Hope this helps you in your wedding planning process! What have been other questions that you found helpful to ask your wedding venue?
